The perfect excuse to embrace unrestricted glamour, New Year’s Eve is fast approaching. Whether you’re drawn to bold drama, timeless elegance, or something that dances in between, Karen Millen has plenty of unique styles to choose from. In the run up to New Year’s Eve, I’m inspired by textures that catch the light, silhouettes that exude elegance, and details that feel as special as the midnight countdown. Read on for my favourite pieces of the moment, and how I’d style them.

What is your go-to outfit choice for New Year's Eve?

I don’t tend to party on New Year's Eve anymore, but when I did, New Year's Eve felt like the one evening you could really push the boat out and dress up. And although I never wear anything too embellished, I would have considered it for NYE. Now I prefer a quiet dinner with friends, and I would probably wear a low-key dress but accessorise with some jewellery. But I do like to incorporate some shine or glitter with my fabric choices for that extra wow factor.

How does the type of event you attend influence your choice of outfit?

It totally depends on the event, for a party I would wear some kind of evening trousers and a dressy top, something I would be comfortable dancing in. For a dinner with friends, probably quite a classic dress, with a bit of sparkle or some nice jewellery. For a larger formal gathering, maybe a full-length evening gown.
